Raymond is tall, strong, brave and hairy. That’s normal, he’s a bison! He’s also the hero of a book. A book belonging to Gilles, a small boy who’s reserved, smart and not hairy at all. The two friends are always together until the day when a terrible accident separates them. From then on, the adventures of the bison take an unexpected turn.
Raymond the Bison is a superbly illustrated mini-novel that celebrates the love of books and the strength of friendship.
Lou Beauchesne, author
When she was a child, Lou Beauchesne used to sell her drawings in the street and tell stories to her dolls. Time passed…and she was offered her first student job at La courte echelle. There she met talented authors and illustrators and dreamed of one day working alongside them. At university, she studied visual arts and graphic design. Ever since, she has never doubted her choice of career. She writes, draws and animates her stories with as much pleasure as when she was small!
Kate Chappell, illustrator
Kate Chappell is a freelance illustrator living and working from her home in Lincolnshire. She graduated from Falmouth University with a BA (Hons) Illustration in 2013. A lover of all animals (especially dogs!) and often inspired by people she knows, Kate uses gouache, pencil crayon and Photoshop to create fun, dynamic characters and illustrations. She likes to include an element of humour in her work whenever possible. Kate has a particular interest in children’s illustration and one day hopes to write and illustrate a picture book (or “books”) of her very own!
