William Lyon Mackenzie King was Prime Minister of Canada for a full five mandates. Director Matthew Rankin uses his posthumously published diaries as the basis for an outrageously bizarre and grotesque political depiction of King’s rise to the most powerful politician in Canada. Presented like a fever dream and recorded on 16 mm in the consistent aesthetics of early cinema, this film is in all respects a snappy commentary on human conduct in politics.
Presented by Telefilm Canada in partnership with the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Canada.
