André Alexis was born in Trinidad and grew up in Canada. His debut novel, Childhood, won the Books in Canada First Novel Award and the Trillium Book Award. His novel, Fifteen Dogs, won the 2015 Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, and Canada Reads. His other books include Despair and Other Stories of Ottawa, PastoralThe Hidden Keys and Days By Moonlight, which won the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. His latest book is The Night Piece: Collected Short Fictions.
